Whats OZ in New Again!
With casting finally complete for the Encores! Broadway Production, it's time to Ease on Down the Road Again.
Semi-actor Orlando Jones will play The Wiz
Real-actress Lachanze will play Glinda, the Good Witch
Quasi-actress Tischina Arnold will play my personal fave Evilene.....y'all remember Evilene right??
......ahhh a woman after my own heart.
The Wiz will run from June 12 to July 5 at the New York City Center
Cop yours early!!!
And by 'early' I don't mean C.P. time.
While I have no faith in Ashanti doing a semi-decent job, I think everyone else should
be able to hit the mark.
I'm sure Mizz Ross will be present, tipsy of course, front and center opening night waiting for 'Shanti to hit a wrong note, miss a line or prayin for her lace front to slip in the middle of Act 2.
And by Mizz Ross, I mean ME....

CoCo: Le Trailer....
Check out the trailer for Coco avant Chanel.
Well, I got my dates wrong. The Paris premiere will be April 22nd. US date is to be determined.
PS: Unlike Marie Antoinette, everyone does not speak English...Betta brush up on your French
Sound Trackin': Marie Antionette

Even if this were a silent film, Marie Antoinette would still be one of my favorite films.
The visuals alone are cavity-inducing-amazingness!!
The Pastries
The Champagne
The Hair
The Clothes
The Foot Rubs
The Glorious Excess of It All.....
In this scene, Sofia Coppola chose "Fools Rush In" by Bow Wow Wow to capture delightful and heady Morning-After Feeling.
The magical rush of butterflies taking over the tummy.
Sublime, to say the least.
PS: I love how everyone in Versailles spoke English!!

Open Letter to Taraji P. Henson.....
I'll make this short and sweet.
Congratulations girl on the Oscar nod for your role as Queenie in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

We gots a semi-Black president in office, you gettin' Oscar nominations and I got my W2 early......the skies the limit for us colored folks.
But honey, if you're really looking to break out as a serious movie star or at least shake that D list Black celeb status of yours.....
You can't be doing Jamie Foxx videos!!! Ya just can't!
Jamie Foxx ft. T.I. - Just Like Me (New Official Video) 2008
by xiar
Personally you shoulda been nominated for playing Yvette in Baby Boy. Now that was a Tour de Force!!

That role deserved a lifetime achievement award or something!!!
Now I'm sure you didn't see the Oscar nod coming when you agreed to be a part-time video vixen. But you gotta see the long haul....think about your future. Acting alongside Brad Pitt and then being Jamie Foxx's video candy is like passing up a full scholarship to NYU to work at Marc Jacobs store for the discount and clothing allowance.
THINK TWICE BABY GIRL!! THINK TWICE!!
Sincerely here for your best interest,

Coco avant Chanel

Get ready bitches.... if you thought the devil wore Prada? Wrong!!...he wears Chanel and many strands of pearls and 5 inch heels and pantyhose and fancies red lipstick.
...and 'no' Karl Lagerfeld is not the devil but he did style the movie.

It doesn't take a psychic or a genius or even a high school drop-out to guess that Lifetime wonked up Gabrielle Coco Chanel biography. Truthfully, they should be ashamed to have even attempted it...They casted Shirley MacLaine and the movie was in ENGLISH DAMMITT!!
So hopefully somebody got it right this time. Written and directed by Anne Fontaine, Coco Avant/Before Chanel focuses on the Chanel's early years: the people and events made her in to the icon we cherish today.
Coco at work.
Filming began in early summer last year and its said to premiering next month.
Looks like its gonna be FIERCE!!
Ok, now all in favor of permanently retiring the word FIERCE say Aye?
Aye...I'm actually quite ashamed that I even used it....please forgive me I know not what I do.

Film School Throwback

Such a Good Movie. Kinda low budge but great nonetheless.
One of my favorite parts was at the end when Chilli, Lauryn Hill, Nia Long, Mekhi Pfeiffer reinact a previous scene.
Luckily for me, some fool posted the entire movie, in like 8 parts of course, on YouTube.
Hooray for Piracy!!!

The Film School Dropout: Soundtrackin'
I thought I'd feature some of my fave muzicall moments in some of my fave films.
First up is the Strip club scene is "Closer". Natalie Portman lets is all hang out, while Clive Owen jizzes in his pants. As the scene draws to a close the moody and heady "How Soon is Now?" by the Smiths drones on in the background.

Hable Con Ella (Talk to Her)...what can I really say about this masterpiece.
(WARNING SUPER FAN ALERT!!) I am truly in awe of Pedro Almodovar, the genius auteur of this moving and poignant film. Brazilian singer Caetano Veloso adds gravity to this scene with his rendition of the Mexican ballad "Cucurrucucu Paloma".

Never taking myself too seriously, I had to throw in the hood classic "Baby Boy"!
I actually went to see this movie in the theaters....and I've never been the same since. "Life is about Guns and Butter"...So chock-full-of great quotes dammit!
Director John Singleton throws in the Bootsy Collins jam "I'd Rather Be With You"

Open Letter to Woody Allen (Not for the faint of heart)

I liked Vicky, Christina, Barcelona.....No, really I did.
The concept of 2 American Students being seduced and enraptured by the allure, sensuality and Joie de vivre of this Catalan city is genius. And quite fitting might I add, since the living in the old US of A isn't quite what its all cracked up to be (hello, the economy called...).
As well, casting attractive thespians such as Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johannson, ......I'm all for it!
Writing and directing a visual masterpiece that includes the aforementioned threesome of hotties as, what else, a menage of hawtness that live, love and create art under one roof in the Spanish countryside.....You got me right where you want me, Dammit !!!
Having not a single moment of sweaty, Vino-fueled, menage hotness included in the final edit.....
How dare you get us all ready for...well, you know, and leave us hanging like that...all hot and bothered and pondering who we can call after the movie.....you know just to chat and take the edge off (Don't you dare judge me!).

I dunno. Maybe I've just been spoiled by the likes of serious film auteurs, like Pedro Almodovar, who know how to put on a show. Pedro isn't all smoke and mirrors. He knows how to deliver or should I say 'put out' !!
With that being said, I will be eagerly awaiting my refund for the $11 that this cock tease has caused me and an additional $100 for the pain, emotional suffering and much needed massage (happy ending included) that followed the debacle known as Vicky Christina Barcelona.

I gotta crush on you, I love me some you!!
Yes Snobbers, ya girl is in love!!I just saw his latest film Elegy, in which he plays British Professor who has an affair with his student, Penelope Cruz, and this crush official.

Ben Kingsley is my 65 year old DILF. (Dad I'd Like to ......well you know)
I was feeling him in The Wackness but I wanted to make sure it wasn't puppy love or the 2 Coconut Margaritas that had before the movie.... But after Elegy, I'm certain he is the ONE!

There is something about older men that just get me going.... their self assuredness(NOTE: not a real word), the fact that they've had numerous lovers ensuring that they know how to romance a woman, or maybe its the fact that his Social Security and Pension are about to kick in... I dunno.
But either way, I'm into him DEEP!
DON'T JUDGE ME!!!

A Must....

But I totally loved The Wackness!!
The film was super funny and the soundtrack if effing amazing!!
Nostalgia always Culture Approved!

PS: Look our for a cameo by Method Man sporting the worst Jamaican Accent ever in movie history.
